What is the difference between serviced apartments, hotels and apartment rentals?

A serviced apartment is a general term to describe a self-contained property (anything from a small studio, up to a large family home) that can be utilised for short, mid-term and long periods at a fixed, all-inclusive nightly cost.

Just like hotels, serviced apartments are offered across the world by individual owners, small family-run businesses, as well as large multi-national brands and come in all shapes and sizes to meet a wide range of budgets and tastes.  However, unlike a hotel room, a serviced apartment always offers a kitchen, whether this be a simple kitchenette, or a fully functioning and equipped kitchen with laundry facilities.  The facility to cook a meal, and relax in a lounge area elevates a serviced apartment to a place to live, rather than just stay and it is for this reason that serviced apartments are becoming the accommodation option of choice with an increasingly mobile global workforce.

Regular rentals (known in the UK as Assured Shorthold Tenancy agreements or AST’s) typically ask the occupant to agree a minimum of six months, the responsibility of setting-up and managing bills and utilities, furnishings and lengthy forms, deposits and credit checks.

A serviced apartment takes away all the hassle associated with a regular rental and replaces it with a single nightly cost, taking the guess-work out of accommodation budgets, reducing time spent sourcing and managing property, and eliminating the nasty surprises often associated with ending a property lease, such as chasing down damage deposits, and final utility and internet bills.

What is the minimum and maximum length of stay in a SITU serviced apartment?

The minimum length of stay in a serviced apartment with SITU is three nights.

Will I have an opportunity to extend my stay with SITU?

Yes, most of the apartment operators we feature offer guests staying over 28 nights an ‘option to extend’ policy which means that they will give you first refusal to extend your stay before selling the apartment to anyone else.  A member of our team can remind you of your option to extend so you have peace-of-mind your accommodation is secured.

Do SITU serviced apartments accommodate pets?

A growing number of the apartment operators we work with accept pets, however please check with a member of our team who will be able to advise on this and any potential related charges.
