About Honiton

Why Choose Serviced Apartments in Honiton?

Serviced apartments in Honiton are becoming an increasingly popular property choice for the business traveller. A one-bedroom serviced apartment in Honiton is typically much larger than a room in an average hotel accommodation in Devon, and the prices are just as competitive.

Serviced accommodation in Devon can really become a ‘home away from home’ while you visit Honiton for business or leisure, providing you with a treasured private space and much valued comfort, security, and independence.  In Honiton accommodation, guests can expect facilities including on-site cooking, dining, and laundry, with free wi-fi, flat screen TV, weekly housekeeping, and allocated parking spaces.

Finding the right accommodation is a crucial part of any business trip, but many corporate travellers find staying even the best hotels in Devon, city centre and B&Bs in Honiton underwhelming, significantly affecting the overall experience. Our apartments are altogether much more suitable places to receive family and friends or business colleagues than most hotels in Honiton, Devon.

Where is Honiton?

Honiton is a market town in the south-eastern part of the county of Devon, which is itself located in south-west England, United Kingdom.

Exeter is the nearest city, some 17 miles to the south-west of Honiton. Devon's largest city, Plymouth, is 51 miles away, again in a south-easterly direction. The Regency resort of Sidmouth is just nine miles to the south.

Bristol, the biggest city in the west of England, lies 52 miles to the north-east, while London is 141 miles north-east of Honiton.

The town has regular rail services to London and Exeter, lies close to the A303, A373, A375, A30, & A35 roads and is only 19 miles from the nearest M5 motorway junction. Exeter Airport is also close by.

Business in Honiton

With the train journey taking less than 30 minutes, Honiton is something of a commuter town for the city of Exeter. However, despite being only a small town, it's also home to a number of independent smaller businesses in its own right.

The retail sector is one of the most prominent here, with an especially large number of antique shops in the town. The Georgian high street includes independent retailers selling goods such as stationery, rare books, flowers, and pet supplies.

Other prominent local industries include agriculture, tourism, and dairies. Significant numbers of locals work in healthcare and professional services, but many of these people commute to other areas for this type of work.

East Devon District Council is actively encouraging local businesses to lower their carbon emissions and provide healthier working environments in general.

Visiting Honiton

Honiton is famous for lace, pottery, and antiques. Pottery is unfortunately no longer manufactured in the town, but one of the many antiques shops will be able to help you locate that special item.

A superb collection of Honiton lace can be viewed at the Allhallows Museum. Famously, Honiton lace featured in Queen Victoria's wedding dress.

A peaceful water garden known as The Glen is perhaps the most attractive open space in Honiton, while you can climb to the top of Honiton Hill for what author Daniel Defoe described as 'the most beautiful landscape in the world'.

The town is also very close to some superb waking country, being a gateway to the national parks, Blackdown Hills and East Devon Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as Jurassic coast.

The best times of year to visit might be when one of the festivals takes place. In May of every other year, the Honiton Festival brings superb art exhibitions to the Thelma Hubert Gallery and other venues around the town. Classical concerts are staged at the Beehive and St Paul's Church during the Festival.

The best places for an evening meal in the town might be two of its gastropubs. The Holt offers great British cuisine, with a focus on local ingredients, while the Flintlock serves great steaks and other meat dishes. Of course, staying in self-catering accommodation in Honiton allows you to either eat out or to cook with some of the amazing local produce on offer.
